Casting a 10-15 minute short film, We’ll Meet Again.
This is funded – at £50k – by the Arts fund, Film and Video Umbrella, Autograph and Norwich Castle and will be displayed at Norwich Castle and Autograph as well as being shown on the festival circuit.
The film draws on many of the popular tropes in English culture to narrate an intimate portrait of the country’s collective psyche. The film follows a woman, Britannia, who wakes up naked in a picturesque English countryside. The character is clearly suffering from amnesia and is confused by the situation but also overwhelmed with awe of his environment, in which there is not a fence, barn, wall or road in sight.
An emotionally impactful film directed by Joanna Vymeris, produced by Amartey Golding, and cast by Amy Jackson CDG.
Paid £500 for 2 days on an Equity shorts contract; accommodation & travel provided.
Shooting in mid-August near Norwich.

Britannia sufferers from amnesia which leads her to flit between paranoia and happiness or contentment. An ability to portray subtle emotional changes necessary. Britannia may be the first woman on Earth or the last person left on Earth. Britannia's character constantly shifts between vulnerability and potential malevolence. The audience is never quite able to place her as victim or aggressor.
Character references are a scorned Boudicca, Britannia, Eve banished from Eden. Britannia is an embodiment of England, past its apparent “prime”, yet with its whole life ahead of it Britannia represents a nation in emotional turmoil at a crossroads.
The character clearly knows emotional conflict and her eyes convey past traumas, however there is an edge that shows she may not have always been at the receiving end.
There are lot of shots of her running throughout the film so the actress must be comfortable with this and be physically able to run. Preferably no tattoos but will still consider. Must be comfortable with interacting and working closely with a real pigeon and dogs. Must be comfortable wearing taxidermy shoes, which may not be suitable for vegans. The taxidermist only works with animals who have died of natural causes.
Note: Due to the nature of this art short, and the artist’s intention, the actor must be comfortable with nudity. However, at this stage there is still discussion to be had on how this will work and to what extent. There will be sensitive discussion with the actor to ensure they are comfortable with the film and its intentions and the director will explain in more detail the reasonings behind this if they are shortlisted to recall stage. There will be a female intimacy coordinator on set at all times and a body double will step in when possible.
