about the project
We are looking for an English speaking actor to bring our main character to life in our wholesome drama “ The Sound of Silence ”. This will be a sound heavy film, accompanied by beautiful cinematography.
Synopsis: Tom moves in to his new home, quickly to get confronted by his loud upstairs neighbours. Due to the thin ceiling he can hear everything they say. Upstairs an argument breaks out, the male getting accused of adultery. During this time our protagonist continues to peacefully build up his home, while upstairs a home gets destroyed.
We created the story to experiment with a different approach to story-telling. We only allow the viewer to follow the plot through sound, while what they see is the polar opposite of what is unfolding. Through this we can change the perspective and emotions of the viewer towards the Plot.
Shooting: 2. & 3. March 2024 Plus one day for preparations if possible.
Due to the spontaneous nature of the project, we do not have a huge budget, and so cannot provide pay. We will work with lots of professional equipment, use established studios and a trained, competent and super fun crew.

The Character: Tom lives in peaceful solitude. He finds joy in all small things in life, from the sun on his skin, to the warmth of a fire. He creates a peaceful environment for himself and puts care into everything he does. Although sometimes too much care, for everything needs to be perfect. Tom quickly gets frustrated when even the food on his plate isn’t perfectly sorted. This gives Tom a quirky characteristic. He truly is a unique character in this modern world. Creating a contrast to his modern, hectic and materialistic upstairs neighbours.
The role of Tom is not spoken. And so we put a lot of focus on the ability to act silent.
