Our film tells the story of the events of the 5th and 6th September 1972 in Munich, the assassination of the Israeli Olympic team by the Palestinian commando ”Black September”, the attempts at negotiation and liberation by the crisis team and the police. In addition, the film sheds light on the aftermath of this tragedy.
Contrary to previous productions, our focus is not on the hostage-taking in the Olympic village, but on the events at the Fürstenfeldbruck airfield. Without reproducing previous accusations of guilt and responsibility, we want to question anew how the escalation and tragedy could have come about.
In close cooperation with eyewitnesses, we are therefore developing a narrative from three perspectives: Assassin, Victim and Police. Together with our expert scientific advisors and with our highest standards of journalistic due diligence, we thus want to investigate the question of how these people each steered into the catastrophe. The entire film is therefore consistently told from several perspectives, represented by numerous different interview partners. This diversity of attitudes challenges the viewer to form his or her own opinion and draw his or her own conclusions.
Therefore, we follow a hybrid approach in our film, i.e. individual scenes are fictionalised based on facts.
The film shoot will take place between March 22nd and April 8th, 2022. The exact days are still to be determined. The shoot will take place in and around Munich.
The daily payment is 300 €. Travel costs will be covered.
