ROLE: Elizabeth
f, age: 36. The Girl Unloved. A care home worker. Plump, and the second half of the wannabe care home power team with Vaughan. Highly manipulative and spiteful, she navigates to get her way through Gary the care home manager to get things just the way she wants them in this care system. Total control. However, deep down she just wants to settle down and be wanted romantically which isn’t happening for her. This internal frustration spills out in her pursuit of dominating residents to compensate for the void.
role 2 | actors | male
playing age: 35 - 45
role languages: English
ROLE: Vaughan
m, age: 41. The Weakling in Charge. A care home worker. A bland-looking weasel of a man, still a virgin and entry-level care home staff who is out of sight, performs as if he’s the manager, covertly swinging his authority over pensioners he can overpower and can’t fight back. His career is his life, and he takes it every inch as seriously, dreaming of climbing the healthcare ladder, unskilled, and he makes up for it with enthusiasm. Always the weak kid who got bullied so badly that he’s getting his revenge now on those physically weaker than him. Complete loser.
role 3 | actors | female
playing age: 40 - 50
role languages: English
ROLE: Eugene
f, age: 45. The Mothering Nurse. The care home nurse. The care home nurse, a beautiful personality and beacon of light in the care home falling apart. She follows procedures for the best of residents' health but secretly is always rooting for them, and on their side too. However, she won’t suffer resistance to fair living, support of the whole trumps all. Very respectful towards older people, funny and vibrant in everything she does. Married for 23 years, with children, she’s family-orientated and this warmth and compassion pour out of her.
role 4 | actors | male
playing age: 65 - 99
role languages: English
role ethnicities: South Asian/Asian/Black/PoC/White
ROLE: Jeet
m, age: 78, Asian heritage, speaks English with an Indian accent. The Book Worm. An elderly care home resident. An Indian male widow and a member of Wil’s gang. Working his life as a Librarian, he’s a quietly spoken and indirect comedian causing trouble through boredom, yet is the most timid member of the gang. The care home is his home, and although his loyalty is rock steady to the gang Jeet is low risk, he carries a twinkle of mischievousness with his breath comments which usually wind Rory up in pokes back and forth between the friends in playful banter. Jeet carries a defined Indian accent, bartering is in his blood and as much as he loves the gang, his own interests lead him to have one foot out.

ROLE: Rory
m, age: 80, speaks English with an Irish accent. The Lovable Rogue. An elderly care home resident. An Irish male and the heart of Wil’s gang. An ex-soldier who never married with a quick wit and out-of-the-norm humor, Rory is the center of our comic relief. Loyal to his traditional roots he doesn’t suffer fools or anything the care home aims to impose as rules upon him or his freedoms. Speaking in a plastic Irish accent Rory crosses over from a soft to a strong Irish accent in moments where he aims to make a point. The gang are his home and his purpose, he’s truly one of the boys.

ROLE: Wilford
m, age: 82. The Engineering Genius. An elderly care home resident. A white male and the protagonist. His life of work was spent as a railway engineer skilled in all aspects of mechanics. He hobbles with a limp and is the brains behind the schemes of the gang, he lives for, founded within the four walls of the private care home he accepts but detests paying for its restrictions. Upon his wife's passing and his daughter moving away to start her own family, Wil selflessly retired to the support of the local private care home, seeing out his days without being a burden on his adult daughter, now a parent herself to Wil’s granddaughter.

ROLE: Regal
m, age: 82, Black/African heritage, speaks English with a Jamaican accent. The Soul Man. An elderly care home resident. A Jamaican male who was once a travelling tribute Saxophone player, also a widow and Wil’s right-hand man and best friend in the care home. He detests for preventing him from living a well worth any salt come the time he passes. The person Wil can confide in. talks most intimately too and shares things with he wouldn’t with anyone else. They share a close relationship, steering the gang in the direction Wil feels is best to go. Regal looks out for Wil, has terrific humour and speaks with a strong Jamaican accent of English laced in patois.

ROLE: Edward
m, age: 84. The Care Home Snitch. A care home resident. The care home snitch, is weak, cowardly and plagued by a face tick. He’s slimy and cunning, privately envious of Wil who has the heart of Nancy the care home’s sweetheart. For this, he stops at nothing to throw a spanner in the works of Wil and his gang's joy, scarce in moments but maximized when they happen, at every turn Edward emerges from the shadows to always try and spoil the party.
