about the project
For an all-female production of Sam Shepard’s “True West” produced by Ja International Theatre production.
The casting will take place at 8pm on Monday August15th at Polo Cultural Gaivotas in Lisboa. Please plan to stay for a couple of hours.
There will be callbacks on Tuesday, August 16th, and Thursday, August 18th, at the same location.
The play will run for two weeks (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, possible Sunday matinee) sometime after October 22nd, at National Museum of Science & Natural History, in the Principe Real neighborhood.
Exact production dates to be announced shortly.
Rehearsals for “True West” will primarily take place on the grounds of the Museum.

AUDITION GUIDELINES FROM THE PRODUCTION
1) “Sides” will be provided.
2) There will be a couple of chairs. It is your option whether to use them.
3) Change male pronouns to female since this is an all-female production.
4) In these auditions — as in all auditions — ignore stage directions and scripted suggestions about how to play a line. Do it your way!
5) An audition is an opportunity to act. It is not a test. The truth is that directors (including me) are “loose” when it comes to casting. I will be looking for chemistry between actors, commitment to the moment, humor, energy, confidence. My best advice is that you remain playful, flexible, and do not be afraid to make bold choices.
