For "Pigeon Livered," a UCL Film Society produced surreal short film.

Synopsis: Exploring an Intern's role at an ethically dubious HR department, we see the unfortunate and absurd fate of a person who tries to fix a system dependent on failure.

This project will be shot on the Arriflex 16BL, the same film camera that Christopher Nolan used to shoot 'Following' in 1998.

Shooting Dates & Locations:  22-24 Sept. in London.

ROLE: The Intern
Role Description: A masculine role, but casting open to any gender and race/ethnicity; age of the Intern: late teens to early 20s; the Intern is a youthful, enthusiastic, boyish and clumsy new starter at the Human Resources department, and is eager to do a good job; unfamiliar with how the Company really works, they have a naïve faith in the system and its humanity despite the apparent lack; obedient, sensitive, and occasionally outspoken, the Intern tries to follow the rules but succumbs to their own instinct to solve problems by protecting those working in worse conditions than themself.

ROLE: The Lady
Role Description: Irish or Scottish accent envisioned but not required; age of the Lady: late 30s onwards; the Lady runs a two-person Human Resources department; the Lady is aware of the profit-driven, anti-social, and cruel ethics of the Company that she has long worked for, yet does not appear to try and change it; tired, but not able to quit, from her cyclical never-ending job, the Lady keeps her conscience at bay by spending her days typing and re-formatting her resignation letter; it is this mighty task that the oblivious new Intern keeps interrupting; the Lady has empathy for the Intern’s ambitions and ideals, but she herself does not believe in hope.

ROLE: The Narrator
Role Description: A non-gendered primarily voice role, casting open to any gender; age of the Narrator: older than mid 20s; the Narrator as the title suggests, narrates the film; this is primarily a speaking role; the Narrator is a charismatic, authoritative and morally ambiguous figure that speaks on behalf of the Head Office of the Company.
