A 15 MIN. REALTIME SHORT
DRAMA / HEIST
LOGLINE – Plans for a new life in Casablanca go awry for two fugitive lovers as they embark on their swansong robbery at a Belgian supermarket.
ACT 1 – Closing time at a grocery store. DK and Eva discuss the imminent robbery in a car parked outside. Eva is wanted by police and anxious that DK’s plan might expose them. This final job would set them up for a crime-free life; the proceeds being used to acquire a Drive-In Cinema business in Casablanca. DK has colluded with the store’s security guard and says they have nothing to fear provided Eva can restrain her erratic conduct. Eva agrees but when DK’s back is turned, she snorts a line of crank. The couple trick their way into the store and the robbery commences.
ACT 2 – DK forces the manager to empty the registers as Eva watches over the employees. Straight-talking Sofie recognises Eva from recent news reports and calls out her behaviour. A heated exchange escalates and Eva – high on crank and unable to control her emotions – pumps five bullets into Sofie’s chest. In the commotion, one of the panicked employees escapes into the aisles and hides. She phones the police before DK can track her down.
ACT 3 – DK frantically tries to wrap up the robbery and sends Eva to get the car. As she steps out, police arrive on the scene and shoot her in the stomach. DK pulls Eva back inside and attempts to save her life. Eva professes regret over her past behaviour and reveals that she is secretly pregnant, before dying in DK’s arms. As further police arrive, an inconsolable DK lets the remaining employees leave. His plans up in smoke, long-time abstainer DK finishes Eva’s crank before putting a gun to his head and pulling the trigger.
