Following the events of *The Avengers*, Phil Coulson — revealed to be alive under mysterious circumstances — assembles a small, specialised team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to investigate and contain unusual threats and phenomena emerging in a world newly aware of superheroes and alien technology. The team travels the globe aboard a converted aircraft, confronting rogue gifted individuals, dangerous artefacts, and shadowy organisations, while Coulson quietly seeks the truth about his own resurrection. As the series progresses, the discovery that the villainous HYDRA has been infiltrating S.H.I.E.L.D. from within forces the team to operate independently, redefining their loyalties and mission.
