A sweeping Italian drama series following the rise of the Florio family, Calabrian migrants who relocate to Sicily in the early nineteenth century and gradually build a vast commercial empire spanning spices, trade and industry. The patriarch's ambitions are inherited and expanded by his descendants, who must navigate political upheaval, fierce rivalry and the complex social hierarchies of Palermo as they ascend from humble outsiders to one of the most powerful dynasties in Italian history.
