Les belles soeurs

(2011)

A stage adaptation of Michel Tremblay's celebrated Québécois play is filmed for broadcast, centring on Germaine Lauzon, a working-class Montréal housewife who wins a million trading stamps and invites her sisters and neighbours to help her paste them into booklets. As the women gather in her cramped kitchen, jealousy, resentment, and long-simmering grudges bubble to the surface, revealing the frustrations and thwarted dreams hidden beneath their cheerful domestic façades.
