The Forgiveness of Blood
(2011)
A teenage boy in rural Albania finds his life upended when his father becomes embroiled in a blood feud after killing a neighbour during a land dispute. Bound by the ancient Kanun code of honour, the family's eldest son is confined to the house for fear of being killed in retaliation, whilst his younger sister is forced to take on his responsibilities and venture into the outside world. As the feud drags on, the boy grows increasingly restless and desperate to find a resolution that will allow him to reclaim his freedom.
