A doctor in 19th-century Hamburg receives a warning from Antwerp that a deadly epidemic may be heading towards the city, but the authorities are slow to act on the threat. The story follows the human cost of bureaucratic indifference and the desperate efforts of those who saw the catastrophe coming before cholera swept through Hamburg's population in 1892.
