Alfredino - Una storia italiana

(2021)

A dramatisation of the real-life 1981 tragedy in which a six-year-old Italian boy, Alfredo Rampi, fell into a narrow artesian well near Vermicino outside Rome. The miniseries follows the desperate multi-day rescue effort that gripped the nation as engineers, cavers, and volunteers struggled to reach the child through the cramped borehole, while television cameras broadcast the unfolding crisis live to millions of Italians for the first time. The event is shown to have had a lasting impact on Italian civil protection services and on the country's collective memory.
