Comrade Detective

A Romanian detective drama, presented as a long-lost Cold War-era series from the 1980s, follows two Bucharest police officers investigating a murder with strong anti-capitalist, pro-communist overtones. The conceit of the show is that the original Romanian footage has been dubbed into English by American actors, including Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, playing it entirely straight. The satirical premise skewers both communist propaganda and Western genre conventions, using the format of a gritty procedural to lampoon ideological extremism on both sides of the Iron Curtain.
