Frank Herbert's Dune

Directed by John Harrison (2000)

A young nobleman named Paul Atreides is thrust into a web of political treachery when his family is assigned control of Arrakis, a harsh desert planet that is the sole source of a precious substance called spice. After his house is betrayed and nearly destroyed by their rivals, Paul finds refuge among the native Fremen people and begins to fulfil a messianic destiny. This three-part miniseries follows his transformation from a sheltered aristocrat into the prophesied leader of a desert revolution against the brutal Harkonnen occupiers and their imperial backers.
