Ageing archaeologist Indiana Jones is coerced by Soviet agents into helping locate a mysterious crystal skull hidden within a secret government warehouse, only to become entangled in a race across South America to find the legendary city of Eldorado. Accompanied by a young rebel named Mutt Williams, who turns out to be his own son, and reunited with former love Marion Ravenwood, Indy must prevent the ruthless Colonel Spalko from harnessing the skull's otherworldly power. The trail leads to an ancient temple where the true, extraterrestrial nature of the crystal skulls is finally revealed.
