One Of The Hollywood Ten
Directed by Karl Francis
A fictionalised account of the real-life case of Hollywood director Herbert Biberman, one of the group of filmmakers and writers who were blacklisted during the McCarthy era after refusing to cooperate with the House Un-American Activities Committee. Facing imprisonment and the collapse of his career, Biberman struggles to maintain his principles and his marriage while navigating the personal and professional devastation wrought by the anti-Communist witch hunts. The film explores the human cost of political persecution within the American film industry during the late 1940s and early 1950s.
