Directed by Mabrouk El Mechri (2007)
Jean-Claude Van Damme plays a fictionalised version of himself, a faded action star returning to his native Belgium who becomes unwittingly caught up in a real post office robbery and taken hostage along with other civilians. Stripping away the action-hero persona, the film explores his personal struggles with fame, addiction, and divorce. In a striking single-take monologue, Van Damme breaks the fourth wall to deliver an unexpectedly raw and emotional confession directly to the audience.
