The trail leads to Silva, a former agent with a vendetta against M, whom he holds responsible for betraying him years earlier. Bond must protect M as Silva's elaborate plan of revenge converges on both MI6 headquarters and a remote Scottish estate. The film also marks a turning point for the franchise, reaffirming Bond's place in a modern world whilst exploring the legacy and cost of a life spent in the shadows.
