An Italian television film dramatising the life of Don Pino Puglisi, a Catholic priest working in the impoverished Palermo neighbourhood of Brancaccio, who dedicated himself to steering local young people away from the influence of the Mafia. His persistent efforts to offer an alternative path to the community brought him into direct conflict with powerful criminal interests. He was assassinated by the Cosa Nostra on his sixty-sixth birthday in 1993, and was later beatified by the Catholic Church.
