A group of strangers aboard a hijacked aeroplane discover that lethal solar radiation is rapidly killing everyone exposed to sunlight on the Earth's surface below. To survive, the passengers and crew must keep flying westward, always staying ahead of the dawn. As resources dwindle and tensions rise, the increasingly desperate group must decide whom to trust and how far they are willing to go to stay alive.
