Mickybo & Me
Two young boys in early 1970s Belfast strike up an unlikely friendship and become obsessed with the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, acting out their own adventures inspired by their outlaw heroes. Their carefree bond offers an escape from the sectarian tensions simmering around them, though the violence of the Troubles eventually intrudes on their childhood world. The film is a bittersweet coming-of-age story that contrasts the innocence of youth with the harsh realities of a divided community.
