Fröken Frimans Krig

Directed by Mikael Hellström (2013)

A strong-willed woman runs a haberdashery shop in early twentieth-century Stockholm and finds herself in constant conflict with the powerful department store owner across the street, who is determined to put her out of business. As she fights to protect her livelihood and independence, she navigates the social constraints placed upon women of the era whilst rallying her loyal staff and community around her. The series blends workplace drama with broader themes of women's rights and class struggle in a rapidly changing Swedish society.
