Regie Oliver Hermanus (2021)
A veteran British civil servant in 1950s London, long dulled into passivity by decades of bureaucratic routine, receives a terminal diagnosis and is forced to confront the emptiness of his life. Determined to find meaning in the time he has left, he befriends a vivacious young woman and ultimately resolves to see through a small but meaningful public project — the creation of a children's playground — that his department has long stalled on. Based on Akira Kurosawa's *Ikiru*, the film is a quiet, moving portrait of a man rediscovering his humanity in his final months.
