For our short film ‘Dreamworld’.
Synopsis:
Ted is a young man who suffered major burning scars from a fire accident many years ago. Ever since he got his scars, he is afraid to be outside amongst people as they often stare and even bully him. Ted works at a pizza place where every Friday a girl calls to order pizza. The conversation he has on the phone with her is the only real social interaction he has in his day to day life. One day on his way home, a man follows him to the bus station and gives him a business card. He claims to be able to solve Ted’s problem. Ted researches the company and comes across pills that allow one to travel into a dream where everything is perfect. Ted decides to take a pill and travels into a dream where his scars have disappeared. In this dream, he meets a girl and for the first time, he is not judged by his looks. Time runs out and Ted wakes back up in reality. He goes back to work and sees the same girl from his dream. He realizes that she also has burning scars and that she traveled into the dream world just like he did. Both decide not to run away from their problems anymore and stay in the real world.
Shooting between 20th November – 30th November but this can change.
We will pay for traveling expenses and lunch.

About the character: Ted is a young 25 year old man who doesn’t live the most happy life. His face is full of burning scars he received many years ago from a brutal fire accident. Ever since he developed his scars, people stare at him, call him a monster and bully him. Ted has completely given up talking to people, approaching girls and spending time in public places. Ted lives in a small apartment by himself. He doesn't put much value on things and only owns the simplest things in his home. The only time Ted goes outside is for work, which is a cheap run down pizza shop. At the pizza shop Ted works in the back office taking calls from customers. Whenever his boss asks him to come work at the front, Ted becomes very anxious and only walks around with a hat or a hood over his head. Every Friday, Ted receives a call from a girl who orders pizza for her Friday night. When on the phone with her, Ted is a completely different person. He expresses himself more confidently and forgets about his scars. Ted always thinks about asking this girl to meet up one day but is afraid she won't accept him for the way he looks.
NB: we will be working with make- up to create face scars so keep in mind if you have any allergies
