about the project

Casting "Park Bench", a short film. It’s a dialogue-driven, heartfelt slice-of-life story.

Logline: Two lifelong friends tackle life's twists from the (dis)comfort of their local park bench. Park Bench warmly explores what friendship means. At its heart, it is a story about love, laughter, and the bumps life throws at us along the way. About how things cannot be a perfect fairytale, how we're left guessing, but also about how much better it all is when you face the various twists with someone else. This tale challenges the default narrative that places romance at the center of male-female friendships. Jules and Sim simply exist as they are—messy, funny, thoughtful, and entirely platonic. The entire film takes place on a bench — performance-driven, slightly quirky, and emotionally rich.

Filming Location: Delft/Den Haag (exact filming location tbd)

Filming dates: 4 September - 10 September 2025 (5 days, exact dates tbd)

Casting in person: 7 June 2025

Some travel costs covered + accommodation provided.

We're aiming to enter film festivals with this one, so our budget is going towards higher quality material, which means we'll only be covering the basics - catering on set and travel costs (within reason). The upside is that the footage should be great for your showreel. We'll likely arrange sleeping places near or on set so that everyone can stay on-site for the filming week.

Looking to fill the following roles:
role 1 | actors | male
playing age: 23 - 27
role languages: English
ROL: Jules
male, mid 20s, English speaker, comfortable with some physical improv.
Quiet, decisive, and loyal to the bone. Unmovable as a mountain once his mind is made up. The kind of person who could tame a feral cat (or small child) through sheer patience. Dresses comfortably in neutral tones.
Improv: While they are platonic, it needs to look like Sim and Jules have known each other forever, so things like hugs, a pat on the back, and a bit of tussling need to come across as natural.

*To apply, please get in touch with a CV, headshot, full portrait, and showreel. Please also confirm your availability for the filming dates.
