Ahmet Taş is a German filmmaker and author.
His short film Apple & Ei (2007), a so-called “documentary musical”, which he wrote himself, became famous. This was shown at international film festivals and was named “Short Film of the Month” by the Wiesbaden Film Evaluation Office as “a stylistic experiment and at the same time a declaration of love for a very lively emigrant culture” and awarded the title “Particularly valuable”. This was followed by the “3rd Diploma” at the International Video Festival Kansk (RU) , and in 2008 the emerging directors “special jury prize” in Minneapolis.(USA)

Then Taş made the film Brot (2011) based on the short story by Wolfgang Borchert with Angela Winkler and Bruno Ganz . With Stairway to Nowhere , the director's first feature-length film followed in the same year after the shooting of Bread , for which Taş himself contributed the script.

Bread was the Oscar-Qualifying Rhode Island Film Festival´s opening night screening and won best editing. One year later Bread was again presented at the Oscar-Qualifying Raindance in competition.
