ROLE: Matt
m, 20s, must speak English without a Hungarian accent
Description:
Matt is one of the three travelers who work for Ferenc on the farm. He is the natural leader of the group as he is more collected than Gio and Adam and doesn’t mind planning or making decisions. An engineer by trade, his knowledge of things technical and his reserved but confident attitude wins Ferenc’s sympathy early. Matt can become a blank slate to whoever he is talking to, to be a neutral presence. Perhaps unconsciously but he even mimics Ferenc’s mannerisms. While he senses the awkwardness and tension in their situation on the farm, it seemingly does not affect him. However, when his two friends point out his shapeshifting abilities it starts to unsettle him a bit. Even though Matt’s communication is not spontaneous, he is plain-spoken. He has a low-key sense of humor that only comes out when talking to his friends. Unlike Gio or Matt, he is hardly affected by the uncertainty of their future.

ROLE: Gio

Description:
Gio is the most resistant when it comes to adapting to Ferenc’s way of out of the three guys. His attitude is a mix of a strive for honesty and anger often resulting in contrarianism. He doesn’t want to stay in an uncomfortable position but also refuses to make long-term plans. While he doesn’t challenge Ferenc’s authority openly (until the very end) he makes very little effort to hide his contempt for him. His relationship with his traveling companions had become somewhat difficult by the time the story starts but their bond is still strong. He is meant to be in the vein of the wandering characters of 70’s New-Hollywood cinema, especially Bobby Dupea from Five Easy Pieces. Gio often switches between having a joking and a bitter, honest tone.

ROLE: Adam

Description:
Adam is on the fence between Gio and Matt. He tends to avoid conflicts with his friends and Ferenc. While he usually finds socially adapting easy this skill fails him now with his host and looks for leadership from Matt. His attempts at being polite and starting conversations when they eat together quickly fall short which makes him even less sure of himself. However, with Judit, he begins to develop a friendly relationship since both of them are keen on chatting. He has a jolly attitude underscored by insecurity. The latter comes from the fact that he had become dependent on his buddies and he is afraid that they are going to disband soon. Adam feels uncomfortable on the farm but he is willing to put up with it for a time since it’s just another adventure the three of them share.
