Now that the definitions are out of the way, we can talk about what you’ll find here and who we are.

Essentially we’ve concentrated very much on practicalities in this guide. What you’ll find here is good, solid, information which you’ll be able to reference and use the next time you find yourself preparing for an intimate scene.

This covers the whole process, too, from checking casting notices to attending auditions and then to rehearsing and shooting the actual film or television show.

We’ll cover the real practical aspects which actors often worry about. Concerns like:

  • What if my partner’s breath smells?
  • Will I get an erection?
  • How can I relax before the shoot?
  • What will my Mum think when she sees it?
  • What do I do if it goes too far?

And many others too!

And before we begin, here’s just a quick word about the authors of this guide.

This book is the result of a collaboration by the staff at www.encast.eu. Between us we have many, many, years experience both in front of and behind the camera. We have been involved in intimate scenes on camera of all kinds and speak to you from experience.

But it’s not just us. We’ve also brought in the experiences and advice of many other actors and film professionals to put together this guide.

We’ve included what we think is the most important information on intimate scenes and the actor, but of course if you need more advice or perhaps some aspect hasn’t quite been answered for you, do get in touch and we’ll be happy to help!

Your feedback is always welcome!
