GB: Welsh/English speakers for theatre

Cat’s Paw Theatre is looking for genuine bi-lingual Welsh/Eng actors for their forthcoming forum theatre production I Think I Can Wait on the issue of rape and sexual consent. Auditions in September in N. Wales. Rehearses last week Oct 2014, tours N. Wales high schools first 3 wks Nov 2014. This is a well established forum theatre production from a company with a first class reputation, fully endorsed by N. Wales police and the Welsh Assembly Government. Named artists already attached to the project. Unrepresented artists welcome but you must be genuinely interested in this type of work. Experience of forum theatre is not necessary as full training will be given but an ability to work quickly, take direction and be a team player is essential. Contracts offered on a self-employed basis. Please note that whilst this production tackles a sensitive subject and does not pull it’s punches, it is age appropriate for U16 audiences. There is nothing explicit or gratuitous in the show. * Katie is 2 weeks away from her 16th birthday. She has an 18 yr old boyfriend, Gavin who is putting her under pressure to have sex with him. She is not ready yet. Must be able to play ‘nice girl’ and then more flirtatious with the same script. Huge emotional range required and the ability to play to emotional extremes very swiftly. MUST be first language Welsh (North Walian). Must be based or be able to be based in N. Wales. We offer good rates of pay but cannot offer accommodation. Must be out of full time education and over 16. The ability to drive is a bonus but not essential. Must genuinely be able to pass for the ages listed realistically at close quarters. * Gavin is 18. Normal lad, going out with Katie. Knew her older sister. Must be able to play predatory/dominant and then shy with light comic touch with same script. Although there are no sexual situations portrayed, actor must be comfortable for his character to be considered as someone that could rape an underage girl. MUST be first language Welsh (North Walian). Must be based or be able to be based in N. Wales. Must be out of full time education and over 16. The ability to drive is a bonus but not essential.
