about the project
For short horror film titled ’The Door Under the Bridge’.
Synopsis: Jessica walks the same way home from work everyday, a footpath beside the river and under a bridge. One day whilst walking home, Jessica hears some sobbing coming from behind her and turns around to see nothing but a strange door which she swears she’s never seen before.
Convinced someone is trapped behind the door, Jessica attempts to open it to rescue whomever might be stuck inside. Jessica calls the police only to be told that according to their records, there is no door under the bridge and before Jessica is given a chance to claim otherwise, the door is suddenly gone.
Making her excuses to the Police, Jessica leaves to meet her friend for a coffee. Recounting this extraordinary story, Jessica reveals to her friend that the door somehow seems strangely familiar and she can’t seem to get it out of her mind.
What follows can’t be explained by science or reason and leaves Jessica with no choice but to face her greatest fears and call on an unlikely hero to save her from this dark and sinister nightmare.

Jessica works as a paralegal in a local law firm and not being naturally gifted she has worked hard to achieve the qualifications required to pursue her career. She’s not very successful in love and keeps repeating the same mistakes when it comes to dating men. In order to avoid feeling vulnerable she always chooses men lacking any emotional depth, yet quickly ends up yearning for that very same thing. Jessica lives on her own with her cat ‘Tin Tin’ named after her favourite childhood cartoon character.
N.B. Please note there is a partially nude scene (tastefully done) involved for this role where Jessica takes a shower and experiences the strange sensation that she is at sea in a storm.

Amanda and Jessica have been friends ever since they met in college and regularly put the world to right over coffee and cake. Amanda is probably the only person in Jessica’s life that she would share her private thoughts and feelings with. Amanda works as the Office Manager in her Father’s van hire family business.

We only ever see Jessica’s Step Father’s shadow and hear his bellowing voice but his presence casts a long dark shadow over the film. Jessica’s Step Father is loud, cruel, ignorant and selfish.
