about the project

For a low budget student short titled ‘God’s Own Troglodyte’

The short is a comedy/drama about a social recluse who is forced to re-enter society after a life-threatening sickness. Encouraged by two witty hikers, he sets out through the moors towards a small village to receive medical treatment. He meets many quirky characters along the way, some that help, others that hinder. After scarcely overcoming the anxiety of this small village, the local doctor instructs him to go to a city hospital nearby – a step too far for the hermit. He regresses and begins the long walk back to his shack, but along the way falls down a ditch. If he’s to survive, he’ll need to do two things he hasn’t done in years – speak and ask for help. But in the moors, only a shout or a scream will cut through the roaring wind.

Roles unpaid but expenses covered (travel, food etc)

Shooting 21st-26th July 2022 in the York area.
